Humble Beginnings

Where you are is not as important as who you are.

In 1974 Ron and Winnie Krueger moved their family to the shores of Ground Hemlock Lake in Forest County to begin a lake management consulting business in support of Wisconsin's Inland Lake Renewal Program.

Northern Lake Service, Inc. (NLS) was born and raised in a tiny office and lab room at the end of the family garage. As lake management became less of an emphasis, NLS started providing lab services to wastewater clients and quickly ran out of space.

In 1980, NLS moved into a historic old building in beautiful downtown Crandon, WI. More than three decades, three major additions, and a generation later, the modern facility is home to a company that sets the standard for environmental lab services in the midwest.

The NLS staff consists of 35 seasoned analysts, technicians, and support staff whose average tenure with the company is more than ten years.

In 2010 a second location was established in Waukesha, WI to better service the metro area.

We have found that where you are is not as important as who you are.

We are a mere phone call and one sample delivery day away. Ten miles or hundreds of miles make little difference to our clients. Our reputation for providing superior, trusted results and unmatched customer service remain our core values, even though we have grown considerably over the past 40 years.

What's your NLS Story?

We would like to share more about ourselves and those we serve.  The following pages will provide you with more insight about our humble beginnings, the Great People we work with each and every day, our dedication to serving the customer and providing Trusted Results.

If you have a story you would like to share about your experience with Northern Lake Service, we would like to hear from you.
