Low Level Mercury
The Clean Water Act has prompted many states, including those in the Great Lakes Basin to take swift action in regards to the levels of Mercury allowed to be discharged into the watershed.
It was for this reason that NLS invested a lot of resources to provide ultra-low mercury detection limits on effluent wastewater and ambient samples collected by customers.
NLS was the first lab to be approved by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for the analysis of low-level mercury samples. Our highly specialized atomic fluorescence spectrometer is used in conjunction with modified versions of EPA Methods 245.7 and 1631 resulting in LODs in the low ppt range.
Collection kits are provided from the lab and include field duplicates and trip blanks.
Since our begining in 1974, Northern Lake Service management has had a strong commitment to practical environmental protection. Recycling and beneficial re-use fit our philosophy to a tee.
Dating back to the early 1980's, when NLS worked with paper mills to legitimize the use of waste product as road binder, we have been involved in numerous re-use/recycle projects. We are experienced at routine compliance testing related to the use of recycled product (i.e. NR 538, ASTM, or TCLP waste characterization) and the use of specialized methodologies to prove the value of a re-used product.
