Lake Districts,
Lake Associations & Watershed Groups

Northern Lake Service, Inc. grew out of the Wisconsin Inland Lake Renewal Program in the mid-1970s.

Under that program, NLS performed numerous comprehensive lake management studies, which included extensive low-level monitoring of nutrients and metals.  While we no longer perform much of the fieldwork, we still provide unmatched analytical support for surface water projects.

From general baseline analysis of lake and stream samples to Mercury and PCB/Pesticide testing of fish tissue or sediment, NLS is your one-stop source for analytical services.  We are also fully equipped to meet the WQX data submittal requirements (formerly R5) for EPA funded studies.

Some of the Typical Analyses Performed on Watershed Projects:

  • Biological Contaminants

  • Low level nutrients

  • Low level Mercury

  • PCB/Pesticide Analysis

  • Chlorophyll

  • Inorganic Contaminants

  • Bio-Matrices (Fish tissue and sediment)

Colleges, Universities & Private Research

Sound research requires sound science, and NLS has been backing college research projects for decades.

Our commitment to new technology allows us to provide tests not readily available elsewhere. And, our veteran staff can provide invaluable insight into method choices and data interpretation.

Sample of University research projects:

  • University of Wisconsin - Green Bay - Membrane filtration study

  • University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh - Private drinking water study

  • University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh - Biodigestor efficiency and operation support

  • Conserve School - Surface water baseline study and "Living Machine" support

Small Drinking Water System

The most vital responsibility of a small SDWA system is providing system users with a safe, reliable source of drinking water.

Northern Lake Service, Inc. is on the job 24/7 providing our OTM (other than municipal) and NN (non-community, non-transient) customers with services needed to do just that.

We provide certified sample bottles, along with all appropriate paperwork and sampling instructions, shipped directly to the client location.  We offer a number of payment options, including credit cards and installment plans, and automatically submit all required data electronically to state regulators as required. We provide a variety of sample pickup options and/or sampling by one of the certified operators on our staff.
