Acquisition of Water Quality Testing Services

Crandon, Wisconsin – January 12, 2009 - In an effort to better serve clients in southeastern Wisconsin and around the country, Northern Lake Service, Inc. (NLS), a leader in environmental analytical laboratory services has recently acquired Water Quality Testing Services, Inc., a former division of Milwaukee Cooperative Milk Producers.

According to R.T. Krueger, President of NLS, the change should be seamless and business as usual for everyone involved. “For years we have worked cooperatively with the folks at Water Quality Testing Services. We have been considering a physical presence in the metro Milwaukee area and their similar approach to providing superior customer service and high quality analytical results made this a great opportunity for our company.“

“Mark and Sara will continue working with their clients while we continue to grow our capabilities out of a new office opening in February and located near the Waukesha Airport. This is a fantastic opportunity for our company and having two locations will allow us to do some new and exciting things.”

Northern Lake Service is a full-service, family-owned environmental compliance laboratory, which has been providing analytical support to wastewater, drinking water, and groundwater clients in Wisconsin since 1974. The lab’s client base has been recently expanded across the country and beyond, due in part to its involvement in a special EPA program.

Water Quality Testing Services will be operated as a wholly owned division of Northern Lake Service and will serve customers in the Metro Milwaukee area and beyond. The new laboratory will be located at 2420 N. Grandview Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. The phone number is 262-786-1071.

UCMR2 Laboratory Approval

We are pleased to announce that we have received full approval for the five EPA methods required for UCMR2 testing.  This program monitors US drinking water sources for currently unregulated compounds.  The resulting data is used by the EPA to determine whether or not regulatory standards should be established for those compounds.  NLS will be one of only a handful of labs nationwide to achieve this.  Northern Lake Service, Inc. is approved for List 1 Assessment Monitoring by EPA Methods 527 and 529, and for List 2 Screening Survey by EPA Methods 521, 525.2 and 535.  The instruments and knowledge gained through the development of these methods will allow us to begin testing for other environmental contaminants that we expect will become prevalent in the next couple years.  These include certain pharmaceuticals, personal care products and other endocrine disruptors.
